More efficiency with serial prefabrication
The second pillar of ecobuilding AG is ecoprefab GmbH, under which the two companies prefab nrw GmbH & Co. KG and prefab sax GmbH & Co. KG for our planned precast plants are located.
The serial prefabrication of components, also known as prefabrication, is efficiently linked with Building Information Modeling (BIM). Digital control of the production process allows time and resources to be reduced enormously – an important step towards making construction more ecological, efficient and cost-effective.
In order to reduce CO2 emissions and conserve natural resources, properties need to be built using less energy and materials. The growing shortage of skilled labour is also forcing the industry to become more efficient. At the same time, the shortage of housing requires shorter construction times and lower costs.
We see an important solution to these challenges in linking digital planning with the serial prefabrication of building components. Thanks to digital construction plans, very different components can be produced to the highest quality, so that architectural individuality is retained. The prefabrication of walls and ceilings with a lower thickness and the use of a higher proportion of recycled concrete also saves building materials.
In future, we want to manufacture windows, insulation, empty conduits, balconies, stairs, columns and pillars as well as ceilings and walls in our new prefabrication plants under the EMC 2.0 label, thereby achieving a degree of prefabrication of more than 60 percent. Compared to conventional construction methods, this reduces costs by at least a tenth and halves the construction time. The CO2 savings are also 50 percent.
EMC 2.0
EMC 2.0 represents the development of the most advanced and innovative platform for the supply of ready-to-install building components for structural and finishing trades. A factory design has been specifically developed for this purpose; it is modular in structure and can be adapted to a wide variety of topographies.
Key factors in selecting the locations for our future prefabrication plants include proximity to conurbations and major cities with high levels of construction activity, as well as good local infrastructure and transport links. For this reason, locations in North Rhine-Westphalia are being considered as a hub between the Benelux countries and the German cities on the Rhine and Ruhr, as well as locations in Saxony, to ensure good access to the eastern parts of the country.
